Firmware Update Instructions: WINDOWS

After running the Panorama Installer, you have all the components you need in order to update the firmware in your unit.

  1. Connect Panorama to your computer and set the power switch to off.
  2. Start Panorama in update mode. To do so:
    1. Hold down the [Toggle/View] (just above Fader 9) AND [Mixer] (above the display) buttons on Panorama WHILE turning its power switch to On (P1 does not have a power switch so plug the USB cable in while pressing the two buttons).
    2. The Panorama display should now be white.
  3. Start nkupdate. You will find the nkupdate application in the Start menu, under ‘Nektar’
  4. The firmware update app nkupdate should now look like Image 1 showing “Device Attached”.
  5. Press the ‘Load‘ button in nkupdate.
  6. Find the file named ‘Panorama_P*_FW… .bin’. (* represents 1, 4 or 6, depending on the model you are using) See Image 2. If nkupdate does not locate the file automatically, you can find it in C:\Program Files\Nektar\P*\fw
  7. Select the firmware and click ‘Open‘. The updater window will report “File Loaded”.
  8. Click ‘Program’ button to begin the update process. Once complete, you should get the message “Programming success”.
  9. Close the firmware updater app.
  10. Set Panorama’s power button to off. If you own a P1, unplug it and plug it in again.
  11. Reset Panorama to it’s default settings as follows:
    1. On P4 & P6 you do that by holding down the Patch-/+ buttons WHILE powering on the unit.
    2. On P1, disconnect and reconnect, then press the [Cycle]+[Record] buttons. You then have 2 seconds to press the [Patch-] and [Patch+] buttons.
      Keep holding the patch buttons until you see the fader display on Panorama.
      NOTE: this will erase all user memory and settings. If you want to keep
      your user memory banks; please do a backup, and restore after resetting.
  12. Restart your computer

 

Firmware Update Instructions: macOS El Capitan and Sierra (10.11 and above)

The DAW support file you downloaded from the ‘My Downloads section also contains as ‘Firmware’ folder. In that folder you will find an application called nkupdate an a .bin file, which is the firmware file. These are the files you need to update Panorama’s firmware.

It’s important to complete every step so please follow the instructions below carefully.

  1. Connect Panorama to your computer and set the power switch to off.
  2. Start Panorama in update mode. To do so:
    1. Hold down the [Toggle/View] (just above Fader 9) AND [Mixer] (above the display) buttons on Panorama WHILE turning its power switch to On (P1 does not have a power switch so plug the USB cable in while pressing the two buttons).
    2. The Panorama display should now be white.
  3. Start nkupdate.
  4. The firmware update app nkupdate should now look like Image 4 showing “Device Attached”.
  5. Press
    the Load button in nkupdate. Find the file named ‘Panorama_P*_FW…
    .bin’ (* represents 1, 4 or 6, depending on the model you are using) inside the Firmware
    folder, included in the file downloaded from Nektar’s website. See Image 5.
  6. Select the firmware and click ‘Open’. The updater window will report “File Loaded”.
  7. Click ‘Program’ button to begin the update process. Once complete, you should get the message “Programming success”.
  8. Close the firmware updater app.
  9. Set Panorama’s power button to off. If you own a P1, unplug it and plug it in again.
  10. Reset Panorama to it’s default settings as follows:
    1. On P4 & P6 you do that by holding down the Patch-/+ buttons WHILE powering on the unit.

IF LOAD BUTTON IS GREYED OUT

  1. quit nkupdate
  2. turn Panorama OFF
  3. start Panorama in update mode – as detailed in earlier instructions.
  4. open nkupdate again.
  5. complete steps 5-11, above

 

Firmware Update Instructions: OSX Yosemite (10.10.5) and below

After running the Panorama Installer, you have all the components you need in order to update the firmware in your unit. After placing the nkupdate application in your Applications folder, please follow these steps.

  1. Connect Panorama to your computer and set the power switch to off.
  2. Start Panorama in update mode. To do so:
    1. Hold down the [Toggle/View] (just above Fader 9) AND [Mixer] (above the display) buttons on Panorama WHILE turning its power switch to On (P1 does not have a power switch so plug the USB cable in while pressing the two buttons).
    2. The Panorama display should now be white.
  3. Start nkupdate.
  4. The firmware update app nkupdate should now look like Image 4 showing “Device Attached”.
  5. Press the ‘Load‘ button in nkupdate.
  6. Find the file named ‘Panorama_P*_FW… .bin’. (* represents 1, 4 or 6, depending on the model you are using) See Image 5. The firmware file is located in //Library/Application Support/Nektar/fw
    1. At the top of the window, below where it says ‘Load Firmware’ you
      should see a pull down menu labeled ‘Documents’ (the current Finder
      location). Click on that menu
    2. Select Macintosh HD (or whatever your system drive is called) from the list
    3. Open the ‘Library’ folder
    4. Open the ‘Application Support’ folder
    5. Open the ‘Nektar’ folder
    6. Open the ‘fw’ folder
  7. Select the firmware and click ‘Open‘. The updater window will report “File Loaded”.
  8. Click ‘Program’ button to begin the update process. Once complete, you should get the message “Programming success”.
  9. Close the firmware updater app.
  10. Set Panorama’s power button to off. If you own a P1, unplug it and plug it in again.
  11. Reset Panorama to it’s default settings as follows:
